Born in the mid 50's I went into the Air Force after high school... chiefly to take advantage of the GI Bill... the real one. Traveled around the world a good bit.
Got out after doing 4 years and went to college where I studied Econ and met my wife!
Did 2 months of radiation, then set about the task of rebuilding the house... I had a lot of help from a great many people... and after about a year and a half we had our house back...
That's how I got started in this business... folks kept pointing me at it ... telling me I'd be good at it. So I decided to give it a whirl... and I've been busy ever since. I think it's a combination of all the trade skills, people skills, and the management background... professionalism.
Now there is a good bit more to it than that... like the fact I love to sing in a great Barbershop Quartet! (My phone number is easy to remember...it is 999-SING) My wife has a quartet of her own in the Sweet Adelines... and my son is going to college now as a vocal music / liberal arts major....
But to find out all the rest... I guess you'll just have to get to know me.
Got married and started moving around the country in retail management. Had a baby boy and soon realized we should settle down in one place if the boy was going to succeed...( we were moving an average of ever 15 months opening stores... go in hire the staff... set the store... deal with the problems... then move )
Moved to Columbia... I do data base design and I intended to be a consultant (leap of faith)... but I got cancer in my spine and had to get a tumor removed... I woke up from the successful operation to the preacher telling me that my house had just burned down that morning... we had lost everything.
